Union men place third in golf invitational

The Union University men’s golf team took third place in the Tennessee River Rumble, which was played Mar. 25-26, at the Windriver Golf Club in Lenoir City, Tenn. The three-round tournament was hosted by Lincoln Memorial University and featured 20 teams and 100 golfers.

JJ Zimmer and Gray Campbell were Union’s top golfers, each finishing T5. Zimmer went 73, 71, 71, and Campbell went 71, 72, 72. Daniel Maybee T27 (75, 69, 71). Trace Robinson T63 (70, 73, 86), and Kip Patterson T84 (73, 80, 81).

Union shot a three-round total of 873. Lincoln Memorial won the tournament, while North Georgia finished second, Wingate fourth, USCA fifth, Anderson (SC) sixth, Coker University T7, Barton T7, Lander ninth, Len.-Rhyne T10, Carson Newman T10, and Grand Valley State T10 to round out the top 12 teams.

Up next for the Bulldogs is the Gulf South Conference Championships in Valdosta, Ga., at the Kinderlou Forrest Golf Club April 21-23.
