The LOCAL has announced two new businesses to open in its micro-retail space on N. Shannon and Lafayette Streets in Downtown Jackson. Burn Your Truth and Grinning Soul Crochet will join Sprinkle Me Sugar at the end of September.

Burn Your Truth is a hand-poured candle makerey, owned by Ariana Hargrove. It will sell hand-poured woodwick candles.

“I’ve been making candles out of my little apartment for over a year now and although I’ve always dreamed big, I never imagined a dream like this would come true so quickly,” she said online after the initial announcement was made, “I am so excited for all of Jackson and surrounding counties to come smell and shop with BYT.”

Grinning Soul Crochet is owned by Laura Grisham. It will sell boutique yarns, crochet supplies, and craft supplies.

“I am so very excited for this opportunity. It would have never happened without you! I’ll say it a million times over-Jackson has the best, most supportive community. I am so grateful to be part of it!” Grisham said online.

Both of these women-owned businesses will join Raina Shults with Sprinkle Me Sugar, a gourmet macaron and tea shop.

The grand opening for the stores will be Saturday, September 30 at their Downtown Jackson location. The event will feature live music and other pop up vendors.

Jackson Downtown Development Corporation Director Beth Ann Simpson said previously in an interview the tenants are chosen by the Board of Directors for JDDC and work hand-in-hand with each other, with mentorships from The LOCAL.

“When the board selects the tenant, they have to all work together because this is a community space,” Simpson said.

The three tenants will have a two-year lease at The LOCAL.
