University of Tennessee Gardens, Jackson, and Madison County Master Gardeners will host their annual Spring Plant Sale on May 3 and 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center. The event is free to attend and open to the public.

The sale will feature over 500 varieties of plants including annuals, perennials, trees, conifers, shrubs, succulents, house plants, vegetables, herbs and more to brighten your home or garden. Madison County Master Gardeners will host their sale inside the Center, while UT Gardens, Jackson, will host their sale outside.

“Buying local is the best way to ensure you are picking the right plants for your property,” says Jason Reeves, curator of UT Gardens, Jackson. “Each year, people come from all over to shop our huge selection of plants, most of which we have grown here on the grounds and are excellent performers.”

Celeste Scott, western region horticulture Extension specialist, says many of the plants in the Madison County Master Gardener sale are passed down for generations.

“Our sale is led by our Master Gardener volunteers who bring in their favorite plants they grew themselves. They have extensive knowledge of horticulture, and will be available at both sales to answer questions and help shoppers make selections.”

Cash, card and check will be accepted at both sales to make purchasing fast and easy, with a small fee incurred for card purchases at the Madison County Master Gardener sale.

UT Gardens, Jackson, is part of the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center, located at 605 Airways Blvd. in Jackson. A list of plants is available beginning April 26.
