Regional planning is the focus of the state’s Department of Economic and Community Development as West Tennessee communities prepare for expected growth from the single largest investment in the state dubbed as BlueOval City (BOC). Ford Motor Co. and SK On are preparing for its 2025 roll-out of Ford’s electric truck line - T3. SK On will produce batteries for the vehicles assembled in Stanton, Tenn. The $5.6 million project is expected to create nearly 6,000 direct jobs at the West Tennessee Megasite in Haywood County.

Madison County is poised for growth as a result of the BlueOval City (BOC) project underway in Stanton. Construction of the site, located about 40 miles west of downtown Jackson, has progressed as scheduled and production of Ford’s new-generation electric truck will ramp up next year. The investment by Ford Motor Co. and its companion battery-production plant, SK On, is expected to create at least 6,000 jobs directly tied to the two manufacturers.

As Madison County prepares for an economic impact and a population growth, the Greater Jackson Chamber is spreading its message, “Move to Jackson” to attract future residents and businesses. Younger Associates recently compiled an 80-page housing study that shows the economic impact of BlueOval City in Haywood County that will create ripple effects for surrounding counties, particularly Jackson and Madison County.

As construction of BlueOval City progresses in Haywood County, Ford’s vision for an efficient and carbon-neutral manufacturing facility is becoming a reality. From its earliest conception, BlueOval City was designed to help minimize impact on the local environment and to protect the local community.
