Visit Jackson, TN to host Blue Suede Rockabilly Weekend

Posted

Visit Jackson, TN will host the first-ever Blue Suede Rockabilly Weekend, a new annual music and heritage celebration honoring Jackson’s deep rockabilly roots. The inaugural event will take place April 24-26, 2026, commemorating the 70th anniversary of Carl Perkins’ hit song “Blue Suede Shoes.”

Blue Suede Rockabilly Weekend will bring together fans, musicians and visitors from across the country for a three-day celebration of rockabilly culture in the hometown of Carl Perkins, the “King of Rockabilly.”

The festival will feature an exclusive VIP event with live music, a classic car show, rockabilly performances by Wyly Bigger, The Mighty Flea Circus, LOLO (Lauren Pritchard) and the Kyle Lacy Band, vintage and retro vendors, a pin-up contest and the Blue Suede Trail — a curated experience of local restaurants and shops with Blue Suede-themed offerings.

“Seventy years after Carl Perkins first sang about his blue suede shoes, the rhythm of rockabilly still beats strong right here in the place where it all began,” said Beth Bolton, CEO of Visit Jackson TN. “Blue Suede Rockabilly Weekend brings the story full circle, celebrating the song, the sound and the man who changed music forever.

“From the Legends of Tennessee Music Museum to the storied spots where legends once wrote their hits, Jackson, Tennessee continues to offer visitors a front-row seat to music history.”

Guests can explore the Legends of Tennessee Music Museum at The Carnegie, home to one of the largest collections of Carl Perkins memorabilia.

Additional weekend events include a Q&A with Stan Perkins, guided tours of the Carl Perkins Collection, a rockabilly dance class and a documentary screening celebrating the legacy of Carl Perkins.

Tickets are now on sale at BlueSuedeWeekend.com/tickets. Attendees can also sign up for event updates and the official newsletter on the website.
