Traditional Southern Gospel event returns to Jackson

The Carl Perkins Civic Center has hosted Jackson Sings the Gospel long enough for it be a tradition for Southern Gospel music fans around the region to make the trek to Jackson.

For four days (Wednesday through Saturday), some of the biggest names in the genre are in the Hub City for a lineup of concerts each night with matinees Thursday through Saturday.

Single night tickets are $20 for general admission and $25 for reserved. Children under 12 get in to general admission free. Four night packages start at $105. All concerts are at the Carl Perkins Civic Center at 300 South Highland Avenue in Downtown Jackson.

Here’s a look at the schedule for the week:

  • Wednesday, July 12 - Jackson Sings the Gospel starts at 7 p.m. with a night of Southern Gospel music with Booth Brothers, Greater Vision, Mark Trammell Quartet and the Mylon Hayes Family.
  • Thursday, July 13 – The tradition continues with a 1 p.m. matinee with the Dixie Echoes and the Chitans. The night show begins at 7 p.m. with Gold City, Karen Peck and New River, Brian Free and Assurance, Jeff and Sherri Easter and the Guardians.
  • Friday, July 14 – The day begins with a 1 p.m. matinee with the Spencers’ Family Reunion. The night show begins at 7 p.m. with Triumphant Quartet, Southbound and Down East Boys and Josh and Ashley Franks.
  • Saturday, July 15 – The final day begins with a 1 p.m. matinee with Jonathan Wilburn and Endless Highway. The night show begins at 7 p.m. with the Inspirations, the King’s Men, the Perrys, Tribute Quartet and the Whisnants.
