Top players helped in multiple ways

We had a number of players in Madison County who might not have recorded big numbers in one area of their team’s offensive output, but they did it in multiple ways.

A quarterback might’ve had a solid night throwing the ball, but not a career night. But he also had a good night contributing in the run game.

Or a running back might not have had his biggest night ever in rushing yards, but he helped keep the opposing defense honest by catching a few passes out of the backfield.

That’s a running trend in this week’s top players as we take a look back at some of the better performances in Madison County in Week 3.

Carson Graves, North Side: The quarterback completed 10 of 15 passes for 150 yards to five different receivers and recorded a touchdown. He also ran for a touchdown while carrying the ball nine times for 39 yards.

Corbin Howard, University School of Jackson: The quarterback completed 15 of 18 passes for 188 yards and a score. He also carried the ball four times for 12 yards.

Ryan Hutchinson, University School of Jackson: He caught nine passes for 83 yards.

Easton Jones, Jackson Christian: The running back had a pair of touchdowns while carrying the ball nine times for 83 yards.

Austin Kelley, Jackson Christian: The quarterback completed 13 of 18 passes for 229 yards.

Duece Lawrence, Jackson Christian: He finished with 17 carries for 105 yards and a score.

Jay’Len Mosley, Jackson Christian: The junior receiver caught 10 passes for 204 yards.

Layton Robertson, South Side: The quarterback completed seven of nine passes for 180 yards and four touchdowns.

Noah Spencer, University School of Jackson: The running back scored twice while carrying the ball 32 times for 220 yards.

Chuck Stokes, South Side: Stokes scored three times in the Hawks’ dominant win. He caught two passes for scores and ran for another and finished with 161 total yards.

Mills Terry, University School of Jackson: The receiver caught six passes for 105 yards and a score.
