TCA repeats as girls’ MS soccer region champions

Posted

The Trinity Christian Academy Middle School Lady Lions soccer team accomplished a three-peat earlier this month, winning their third championship in three years.

They went into the 2025 season coming off back-to-back West TN championships and riding a 30-game winning streak.

While hoping to continue the streak, Coach Cam Morey knew they would face some uncertainty, having to replace half the starters from last year's team.

TCA continued its success early but saw its 35-game winning streak come to an end. This was the first loss in three years for TCA.

The Lady Lions would finish the year second in the district.

TCA traveled to Henderson to play Chester County in the first round of the region tournament. TCA had beaten Chester County earlier in the year. The game was tied 0-0 at the half, but Jenna Faith Warren was able to break it open in the second half, scoring three goals. Abby Porter added a goal late to make the final score 4-0. This win meant the rematch was set: TCA Lady Lions vs USJ Lady Bruins, with the winner going to the championship game.

TCA traveled across town to play the semifinal game at USJ. The Lady Lions got an early goal from Farrah Carson to take a 1-0 lead. Both teams played solid defense until USJ's Milly Smith found the net to tie the game 1-1 late in the second half.

After two scoreless overtime periods, the game went to penalty kicks. Hatley Vinson was exceptional during the PKs, stopping the Lady Bruins' first four kicks. Jenna Faith Warren and Abby Porter both scored goals, clinching the win.

Coach Morey called this game "the best team win of the year, with everyone contributing." This semifinal matchup lived up to all the hype. The Lady Lions were headed to the championship game for the fourth year in a row.

TCA would once again see a familiar foe in the championship game, the South Gibson Lady Hornets. TCA had already beaten South Gibson in the regular season 1-0.

TCA came out of the gate hot, taking a 2-0 lead with two quick goals from Carson and Porter. The Lady Lions would give up a goal late but would hold on to win 2-1. The three-peat was complete.

TCA would finish the season with an 11-1 record and again the Region Champs. Isa Tuchez was named to the All-Region Team. Tuchez helped lead the TCA defense all season. The Lady Lions won 41 games and had only one loss over the last three years.
