S.C.’s Bryant wins 3rd Miss Volunteer America

Posted

Berkley Bryant, who entered last week as Miss South Carolina Volunteer, is the third-ever Miss Volunteer America.

Berkley won her talent competition earlier in the week, tapping to a rendition of “Blue Suede Shoes.”

When it came down to the final five to answer questions at the end, Bryant’s question was about how she could serve as a positive role model if she were to be named Miss Volunteer America.

Bryant discussed self love and letting young people know their worth and that they’re more than enough in most situations. She also discussed the future and playing a role in ensuring the next generation “falling in love” with the volunteer organization.

After pageant host Allison DeMarcus named off the fourth, third and second runners-up, it was down to Bryant and Miss Pennsylvania Volunteer Alyssa Gallagher, who was named first runner-up.

After that, Bryant was given her crown and flowers and waved to the crowd with pyrotechnics shooting in various places on the stage at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

Miss Tennessee Volunteer, Jada Brown, a recent Lane College graduate, made it to the top 10.

“Tennessee, THANK YOU!!!,” Brown said on the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Facebook page late Sunday night.  “The love and support I felt on stage every night competing at nationals of Miss Volunteer America was unmatched! I am very honored to wear TENNESSEE across my chest. I hope I made you all proud.

“Congrats to our new national titleholder, Berkley Bryant! She is so deserving and one of the most kind-hearted people I have ever encountered in my life. I am so blessed to have a friendship with such a beautiful human inside and out such as Berkley!! I wish you much success on your year of service.”
