Here’s a recap of how the Jackson Rockabillys baseball team did this past week:

June 6: The Jackson Rockabillys were able to defeat the Alton River Dragons 9-2. With this win, the Goats were able to slide into first place of the south division.

June 7: The Jackson Rockabillys improved to 7-2 on the season with a 5-3 victory over the Burlington Bees in the first game of a two-game series.

The Rockabillys benefited by the Bees' three errors, all of which proved to be extremely costly for the Bees and extremely beneficial for the Goats. These errors helped the Rockabillys jump out to an early lead in the second inning and add on another run to their total in the ninth which would eventually help put the game away.

The Rockabillys jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning courtesy of a monster home run blast from infielder Stan King, the Rockabillys' first homer of the young season. The lead was increased to 4-0 off an RBI single from Trey Racherbaumer before the Bees put their first run of the game on the board to trim the deficit back to three.

The Bees then tacked on another run in the fifth inning to cut the Goats' lead in half, and there were no runs again until the eighth inning when Burlington's Skyler Agnew cashed in on an RBI triple to narrow the Rockabillys' lead to one going into the ninth inning.

The Goats' offense managed to prop the lead back up in the final inning as another Burlington error came back to bite them as Gavin Arsenau reached first and subsequently advanced to second on a throwing error by Skyler Agnew, which led to King advancing to third and designated hitter Caden Contant scoring to put the Goats up 5-3.

From there, closer Jaxson Lucas, who has been lights-out all year thus far, came in and shut down the Bees offense for the last half-inning, leading to the Rockabillys' third consecutive win.

June 8: A furious Rockabillys rally fell just short as the Goats fell to the Burlington Bees on the second night of a back-to-back 15-14 in extra innings.

The Goats were down by as many as six runs before a Jackson Blemler RBI single kickstarted a massive comeback where the Rockabillys tied the game at 14 before Burlington's Jace
Figueora scored on a wild pitch to give the Bees the walk-off win.

June 11: Caden Contant's 2-RBI single propelled the Rockabillys to a thrilling 7-6 win over the DuBois County Bombers, snapping the Goats' two-game losing streak.

The Rockabillys donned the Blue Suede uniforms in this one and they did not disappoint in the special threads, as they climbed out of a 5-1 hole and walked off the Bombers courtesy of Contant's 2-RBI single in the bottom of the ninth which drove home Gavin Arsenau and Ethan Rossow.

June 12: The Rockabillys managed to fend off a late comeback attempt to beat the DuBois County Bombers 4-3.

The Goats were up 4-1 throughout the majority of the game, but the Bombers drove in two runs in the seventh inning to cut the Rockabillys' lead down to one. However, that would be the end of the scoring for the Bombers, as the Goats protected their lead and shut down the Bombers' offense in the final two innings to take home the victory.

With the win, the Goats improve to 9-4 on the season.
