Martini party this weekend for Redemption Road

Posted

Redemption Road Rescue is an organization in Jackson that works all year to give horses who have been abandoned, neglected and/or recovered by law enforcement a place to recover and eventually be adopted.

But taking care of horses is an expensive proposition.

That’s why Redemption Road needs help in funding its efforts.

One of the sources of that funding is a special event on Friday at the Jackson Fairgrounds.

The annual Make It Shake It Martini Party makes the move to the Fairgrounds to give party goers a little more space to move around.

“It started in the Larue and then to Hub City Brewing, but we needed more space, so we’re at the Fairgrounds this year,” said Lori Collins, the director of Redemption Road.

The event is set to start at 7 p.m. and tickets are $85 for an individual or $600 for a table of eight.

“I’d never heard of an event like this until we started talking about a fundraiser, and someone said we needed to do a martini make it, shake it event,” Collins said. “It really is a fun event where martinis are kind of the center of the event, but they’re not the only drinks, and there are non-alcoholic options available too.”

In addition to the martinis, there will be food, live music and a silent auction happening too.

“It’s a party, and we’re here having fun and raising money to do some good for animals who need help,” Collins said. “We will show a video that allows those in attendance to see how the funds that are raised have been used in the past year and how we help horses and other animals on a daily basis.”

Anyone interested in ordering tickets can do so by sending an e-mail to pattihs2845@gmail.com.
