Martin Littlefield, known affectionately as "Marty", departed this life peacefully on June 28, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center at the age of 73. He was born on July 13, 1950, in Adamsville, TN to the late Hubert and Julia Dee Littlefield.

Marty was a dedicated technician at Procter and Gamble, where he worked in the Micro Lab and Duncan Hines product testing lab. He made yearly trips to Cincinnati to test and qualify new crop flours for cakes, brownies, and cookies. After retiring from Procter and Gamble, Marty worked as a grounds keeper for Cherry Grove and Camellia Trace apartments, where he met and made many friends.

Beyond his professional life, Marty held a bachelor’s degree and found joy in simple pleasures like gardening, coin collecting, researching knowledge, and antique glassware. He held the role of Secretary of the West TN Coin Club for several years. His dedication to the club was unwavering, with a friend jesting that Marty had held the position “since Noah’s Ark was built”. This anecdote is a testament to his loyalty and enduring spirit. Marty cheered passionately for the St. Louis Cardinals, UT Vols, and TN Titans.

In his younger years, Marty loved to travel with Kathy, go on their dates by the pond, host dinner parties for family and friends, and he always loved to garden. Marty opened his heart and home to Courtney, Anna, John, and Chloe during a difficult time and loved them whole-heartedly.

One of Marty’s true joys in life came from being “PopPop” to granddaughter, Madelyn Grace. He entertained her at “Camp Littlefield” with costume parties, tea parties, playing hide and seek, showing her how to use his iPad, playing school, and trips to the park. PopPop spent lots of time in “time out” for not listening. His love for her knew no bounds and he enjoyed every moment spent with her.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Kathy Littlefield; sister, Marla Terry (Melvin); granddaughter, Madelyn Grace Moore; brother-in-law, Ken Claybrook (Debbie); nieces, Lindey Moore (Ben), Lanetta Heyen (Michael), Tracey Dale, and Julie Dale; and nephews, Barry Littlefield (Jenny) Chad Green (Kristy), and Jeremy Claybrook.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Littlefield; sister-in-law, Janet Littlefield; nephew, Brent Littlefield; and niece, Carrie C. Littlefield.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marty’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate-to-st-jude.html or by mail to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
