The Jackson Police Department is investigating a shooting death near Downtown Jackson. Nicholas Perry, 33, died as a result of the incident.
A press release sent out by the department says officers responded to the 100 block of West Deaderick St., around 9 p.m. Wednesday night in response to a ShotSpotter alert. There, they found Perry, who had died due to a gunshot wound.
The police department said in the release they made contact with another gunshot victim, who was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect wanted for this shooting is currently in custody and the department is not looking for anybody else, according to the release.
The investigation is ongoing.
