The Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame will induct their 2024 class on Thursday, April 11.
This year’s class consists of Drae Bowles, Audrey Hazlehurst Davis, Greg Goff, Joe Holloway and Joshua Holmes.
Bowles is a graduate of Jackson Christian and played college football at the University of Tennessee and Chattanooga.
Soon after former UT coach Derek Dooley became the head coach in Knoxville in 2010, Bowles was the first athlete Dooley extended a scholarship offer to after being hired.
Davis one of the top cross country runners in high school in the state, running for University School of Jackson. She continued to be a runner, and she’s a former winner of the Andrew Jackson Marathon in Jackson and the St. Jude Marathon in Memphis.
She’s qualified for the Boston Marathon multiple times.
Goff played baseball at South Side, Jackson State and Delta State University before getting into coaching college baseball.
Goff is the head coach at Purdue University after serving as head coach at Montevallo (Ala.), Campbell (N.C.), Louisiana Tech and Alabama.
Holloway is a graduate of Jackson High School, and his coaching resume is one most coaches would like to have. While coaching the girls’ basketball team at North Side in the 1980s, he led the Lady Indians to the state tournament three times.
He was an assistant coach for the slow-pitch softball team in Smithville High (Miss.) that won a state championship.
He’s a local sports radio/streaming broadcaster now and actually learned of his induction into the Hall during halftime of a basketball game at Jackson Christian earlier this year as he’s the voice of the Eagles for Worthy Road Studios along with his work as a sports talk host for WNWS-FM 101.5.
Holmes is a Jackson native and Jackson Christian alumnus that lives in Hollywood, Calif., and is an internationally known marathon runner.
He started the social media running community Run It Fast that encourages long-distance running and overall fitness.
Along with the inductees, Mike and Jan Kelley will receive the Billy Schrivner Distinguished Service Award for starting the Morgan Kelley Foundation in honor of their late daughter in 2009.
Brevin Knight, a broadcast analyst for the Memphis Grizzlies, will be the keynote speaker for the event.
The ceremony will take place at Carl Perkins Civic Center at 6:30 p.m. on April 11.
