The Tennessee Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA TN) named Jackson State Community College (JSCC) Associate Professor Amy White the 2024 Outstanding PTA Educator Award during the chapter’s spring meeting at Belmont University.

This annual award is given to an APTA TN Member who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the education of PTA students. Recipients must demonstrate an exceptional ability to go above and beyond what is expected as an academic educator and holds a commitment to classroom education of future physical therapist assistants.

“Amy is incredibly deserving of this award, going out of her way to see our students succeed so that they excel in the classroom as well as the workplace when they graduate,” said Dr. Felicia Ingram, PTA Program Director. “This award reinforces the excellent instructors we have at this program, and I’m happy to see her recognized by her colleagues across the state for the outstanding job she does here at Jackson State.”

Each year, letters of recommendation for PTA educators from across the state are submitted. Each candidate is reviewed by the APTA TN board to name an ultimate winner.

White’s recognition of excellence reinforces JSCC’s longstanding PTA program excellence with Dr. Ingram also earning the President’s Award in 2019 by APTA TN, an award presented by the association’s president for outstanding service to the profession and the field of education.
