Public notice is hereby given that a vacancy has occurred in the Office of Constable, District 1, Position 1.

The Madison County Board of Commissioners shall fill the position of Constable, District 1, Position 1, at

the meeting of the Madison County Board of Commissioners, December 15, 2025. Pursuant to Tenn.

Code Ann. § 8-10-102 qualified applicants for the Office of Constable shall be 21 years old, a qualified

voter in Constable District 1, have the ability to read and write, possess at least a high school diploma or

general educational development certificate, have no felony convictions, and have not been separated or

discharged from the Armed Forces of the United States with other than an honorable discharge. A letter

from a psychologist licensed in this state who has conducted a cognitive and psychological test on the

candidate stating that the candidate is mentally and cognitively fit to perform the duties of a constable.

In the event that the candidate seeks election to the office of constable by the county legislative body to

fill a vacancy in office, the same letter must be filed with the county clerk prior to the election.

Candidates/Registered voters meeting these qualifications may submit their names and resumes in

writing for consideration to fill this vacancy.

The deadline for submissions is 12:00 PM, December 5, 2025.  Any and all submissions received after

12:00 PM will be rejected.
