Check out these events in and around Jackson in the next couple weeks.

JULY 13

Unplugged Supper Club

Come out to the first of many Unplugged Supper Club events at the new Jackson’s Kitchen & Catering (203 East Lafayette Street in Downtown Jackson), hosted by LoLo featuring music by Kota. It will start at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $65, and proceeds will support their upcoming record produced by No Reverse Records. There’s a limit of 58 tickets, which include dinner and the performance, and they’re sold in tables of two and four only. Tickets can be ordered online at hubcityevents.com.

Summer Celebration

This event provides educational opportunities for landscaping and horticultural professionals and hobbyist gardeners. The Summer Celebration field day is presented by UT AgResearch and UT Extension (605 Airways Boulevard in Jackson) and starts at 8 a.m.  Please check back for additional details and registration information as this event date approaches.

Jackson Sings the Gospel

The four-night event continues after having started on Wednesday. Single night tickets are $20 for general admission and $25 for reserved. Children under 12 get in to general admission free. All concerts are at the Carl Perkins Civic Center at 300 South Highland Avenue in Downtown Jackson.

Here’s a look at the schedule for the week:

• Thursday, July 13 – The tradition continues with a 1 p.m. matinee with the Dixie Echoes and the Chitans. The night show begins at 7 p.m. with Gold City, Karen Peck and New River, Brian Free and Assurance, Jeff and Sherri Easter and the Guardians.
• Friday, July 14 – The day begins with a 1 p.m. matinee with the Spencers’ Family Reunion. The night show begins at 7 p.m. with Triumphant Quartet, Southbound and Down East Boys and Josh and Ashley Franks.
• Saturday, July 15 – The final day begins with a 1 p.m. matinee with Jonathan Wilburn and Endless Highway. The night show begins at 7 p.m. with the Inspirations, the King’s Men, the Perrys, Tribute Quartet and the Whisnants.

Food Truck Fridays

Downtown Jackson and the West TN Farmers Market (91 New Market Street in Downtown Jackson) bring you Food Truck Fridays! Make plans to join them every Friday, May through November, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to experience local eateries at lunch to end your work week and support local businesses. 

AMP Music Series

Do you hear it? Only the music of Jackson and West Tennessee could connect Memphis’ Beale Street and Nashville’s Music Row. Join the City of Jackson in celebrating the rich musical legacy of our region with the 2023 season of Jackson’s Award Winning music venue Jackson’s Amphitheater at the Market (AMP). Located in the heart of Jackson behind the West Tennessee Farmers’ Market and within walking distance of the Jackson Walk, this week’s performer is Magi.

JULY 15

Pets Rock Fest

The Jackson Animal Care Center will host the third annual Pets Rock Fest at Jackson Fairgrounds Park (800 South Highland Avenue in Jackson). Proceeds for the event, sponsored by PRA Group and the City of Jackson, TN, will go towards funding for the low-cost spay and neuter program that has helped provide thousands of spay/neuter surgeries for these animals. Unfortunately, the Jackson Animal Care Center and private Rescue Groups have struggled for the past few years with animal overpopulation in West TN. The goal of “Pets ROCK!! Fest” is to raise awareness and money for JACC, various animal Rescue Groups and related organizations. Join them for a day of family fun and activities from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Scarlet Rope Project Cornhole Tournament

Registration for the event will begin at 3 p.m. at Elks Lodge (28 Executive Drive). Bags fly at 4 p.m. Registration is $10 per person ($20 per team) with a blind draw for the tournament matchups. Bring your own bags if you have them and play for cash prizes and bragging rights.

JULY 16

Voices in the Vineyard

Century Farm Winery (1548 Lower Brownsville Road in Jackson) continues its summer concert series with Rita Perry and the Night Owls at 7 p.m. Music starts at 7 p.m. Limited tables are available. Lawn chairs are available.

JULY 20

9 to 5: The Musical

The Jackson Theatre Guild presents 9 to 5: The Musical at the Ned July 20-23. Tickets are on sale now at www.jtgonline.com. Directed by David McCall, choreographed by Renee Brooks and conducted by Benjamin Duffey, three unlikely friends take control of their office and learn there is nothing they can’t do, even in a man’s world. Reelfoot Lake Osprey Festival

Reelfoot Lake State Park (2595 Highway 21 in Tiptonville) will offer tours to osprey sighting areas of the lake Friday through Sunday. Sunrise and sunset tours too! Osprey Art & Photo Contest. Make your reservations and enjoy a Reelfoot Lake weekend. Reserve your place for a pontoon tour! Visit their website or call 731-253-9652. Osprey will be very active during this time of year because they are feeding their fledglings and their nests are very visible.

50^th Celebration of “Walking Tall”

Join the Henderson/Chester County Chamber of Commerce for the 50th celebration of Walking Tall. There will be memorabilia, walking tours, film showing, photos with the patrol car, snow cones and popcorn! It will be held on the Chester County Courthouse Lawn (133 East Main Street in Henderson) from 6-8 p.m. The movie about legendary McNairy County Sheriff Buford Pusser was filmed mainly in Henderson and Chester County.

Wine Down

Crown Winery (3638 East Mitchell Street in Humboldt) is back with its Wine Down concert series. Remember when booking your table reservations to also go ahead and do your pizza reservations. The pizzas time slots go fast.
Visit their website www.crownwinery.com and book online. This week’s entertainment is Blue Eyed Sun. Doors open at 6 p.m.

JULY 26

Miss Tennessee Volunteer

The annual event that’s been held in Jackson for more than 70 years is set to start again with Night 1 of preliminaries at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. Tickets are available online at misstennesseevolunteer.net. After three nights of preliminaries, last year’s winner, Paige Clark will crown this year’s winner on Saturday, July 29. The event starts at 7 p.m. each night.
