Frances Glynda Garrett Hays, age 79 of Jackson, passed away on March 24, 2024, in Jackson.
Glynda was born on February 1, 1945, to the late Coy Franklin Garrett and Frances Wiley Garrett. She grew up as a proud member of the Malesus Community and graduated from South Side High School in the class of 1963 where she enjoyed cheerleading. On August 9, 1963, she married the love of her life, Maurice David Hays, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Glynda was the executive secretary to an attorney, worked at South Side High School, and retired as a special education aide. She was also a devoted pastor's wife and compassionate women's Bible study teacher for many years. Glynda and Maurice participated in mission work all over the world.
She was passionate about collecting Dalmations, spoons, and participating in craft competitions at the West Tennessee State Fair where she won many ribbons. She also enjoyed studying local history and genealogy.
In addition to her parents, Glynda was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Hays Henson; and her brothers and sisters, Douglas, Coy, Jr., Jim, Bill, Bob, Charles, Frances, and Carolyn.
She is survived by her husband, Maurice Hays; son, Glen Hays (Christy); son in law, Bobby Henson; grandchildren, Christopher, Garrett, Gabrielle, and Carter; and great grandchildren, Hazel, Harrison, and Rhett.
Funeral services for Glynda were Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Bemis with Bro. John R. Gaters officiating. Burial followed in Ebenezer Cemetery in Malesus.
Pallbearers to service are Christopher Hays, Carter Hays, Garrett Henson-Hinck, Bobby Henson, Charlie Garrett, and Hermon Odle.
