Gene David Goulooze entered his heavenly home early Sunday morning, June 9, 2024. He joined his dear wife, Ruth who preceded him in 2012. He was born February 18, 1928 to Martin and Kate Goulooze in Rockford, Michigan. He lived most of his life in Grand Rapids until 2014 when he moved with his son to Jackson.
After retirement in the 1990’s, he founded New Creation Prison Ministries. Through this ministry he fulfilled his passion to reach the lost with the redemptive love of Jesus. He authored Paths Worth Choosing, a devotional for inmates used in prisons across the country.
He is survived by a daughter Janet (Jim) Brown and a son David (Kathy) Goulooze. Six grandchildren: Kristin (Brad) Riley, Kate (Mark) Hanna, Ben Brown (Erica), Betsy (Colton) Martinez, Sally (Juan) Hernandez, Nick Goulooze and twelve great grandchildren. Also, a dear friend, Janie Hickman.
A visitation honoring Gene’s life will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Arrington Funeral Directors from 5-7 p.m..
Visitation in Michigan will be Monday July 1, 2024, beginning at 11 a.m. continuing until 2 p.m. at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Services, 4291 Cascade Rd SE Grand Rapids. Friends are welcome to join the family for internment following visitation at Graceland Memorial Park.
