The Tennessee Freedom Bus Tour with Republican elected officials, candidates and leaders has been traveling across the state the last few days and stopped in Madison County at the Old Country Store Wednesday evening.
The bus was mostly bright red with some patriotic blue with white stars on it. Displayed all over it were the names of Republicans from Presidential candidate Donald Trump to the U.S. House of Representatives' eight Republican members from Tennessee. Signatures were on it as well, mostly at the bottom but some had signed to show their support for the Tenn
Before they got to Madison County, they stopped in locations near Madison County throughout the day including Medina City Hall that morning.
Congressman David Kustoff was the emcee of the event as he introduced eight other speakers in an event that lasted about 45 minutes.
State Senator Ed Jackson and State Republican Party Chairman Scott Golden were part of the stop.
While they touted the importance of every county - including Gibson since that's where they were at the time - to vote for Republican candidates, each speaker discussed important aspects about voting.
Jackson, who's not up for re-election this time, said that voting Republican would keep the state in good shape financially.
"We're in one of the fiscally most responsible states in the country, and it shows from the surplus we've had the last few years without a state income tax," Jackson said. "And voting to keep Republicans in office will keep us fiscally conservative and making better choices in Nashville.
"Voting Republican for the Senate and President will keep conservative principles in Washington, too, which we need more of."
Golden lives in Madison County and said voting down the ticket for conservatives.
"This is the ninth day this tour has been on the road, and this will be a long day," Golden said. "The Republican Party is unified and we're about unity, unlike what you saw from the Democratic Party (Tuesday) night.
"So we need to keep this unity at the poll and vote every Republican in from our local officials to Nashville to Washington."
Kustoff spoke at the end and said he the Democratic Party and its woke agenda is getting out of control, which means it's more important now than ever to vote for Donald Trump for President and Republican down the ballot.
"President (Joe) Biden called us garbage (Tuesday) night because we have conservative values that want a fiscally responsible government that protects its borders and protects female athletes from male athletes wanting to play women's sports," Kustoff said. "The fact that anyone in the Democratic Party - let alone the President - thinks that line of thinking is OK shows they don't care about your freedoms as much as they are about their own agenda.
"President Trump will stand for your freedom, so he deserves our support."
State Representative Chris Todd joined the tour by the time it stopped in Madison County.
“I’m truly excited that the day is almost here for the conservative majority in this country to take the federal reins back and pull this country out of the ditch the liberals have put us in," Todd said. "My neighbors in this community are very anxious to see a change of the guard and get us on the proper track.
"With President Trump, Congressman Kustoff, Senators Blackburn and Haggerty watching our backs at the federal level while we hold the line in the great state of Tennessee, they know freedom and rule of law will return.”
