Emily McGill premieres new songs, thanks community for support

Singer/Songwriter Emily McGill launched her debut EP album at Hub City Brewing Friday night. McGill is the daughter of Paula Bridges McGill and the late Chuck McGill, who owned The Bandstand in Jackson. 

McGill released her EP VOL. 1 on March 24th, with six songs: “Write You Out of My Memory,” “Let’s Go To Bed,” “Better When I’m Drinking,” “Start Again,” “Bleeding Through,” and “I’m Done.”

She is signed with Eddie and Justy Productions out of Nashville, and works under the newly-formed Sneaky Animals Music label. 

“With powerful vocals and natural songwriting chops that are well beyond her 25 years, Emily likes to find ways to incorporate her West Tennessee roots into her music,” the label describes McGill.

“I love country music. I love rock, I love soul, and I love blues,” McGill said, describing her style. 

On stage, McGill played with local artists Tyler Goodson, Jeremy Tubbs, and Joseph Kyle. LOLO also performed several songs with her. 

“I get a lot of support from Jackson honestly. Right now, a lot of my support comes from West Tennessee, and people that followed my parents in the 80s and 90s. Also I still sing with my mom and my sister sometimes,” McGill said, “It means everything. I don't think I can put it into words honestly, just having my dad's legacy and being able to fulfill his legacy since he's passed, means a lot. Absolutely.”

McGill’s music can be found on Spotify and Apple Music. Her song “Better When I’m Drinking” premiered on CMT in March.
