Dr. Larry Eugene Thompson

Dr. Larry Eugene Thompson, 67, of Jackson passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 28, 2024. No services are scheduled at this time.

Dr. Thompson was born on October 6, 1956, in St. Petersburg, Fla., to the late Fred Eugene Thompson and Ruby Maxine Phillips Thompson Weaver. He received his Doctorate in Marine Biology at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. He went on to be the Associate Professor of Biology at Lane College where he enjoyed working with the students in the department very much.

Dr. Thompson was a world traveler. He loved seeing other places and had traveled to New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, Madagascar and all over Europe. He also loved to go hiking, camping, and scuba diving.

He will be missed deeply by his family, friends, and colleagues.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dr. Thompson's memory should be directed to Lane College, 545 Lane Ave., Jackson, TN 38301
