Downtown Festival welcomes more than 1,000  people

The inaugural Vintage Makers and Music Festival in Downtown Jackson saw more than 1,500 people over the course of two days. Organizers for the event called it a “dream come true” and “magic.” 

The event, located at the West Tennessee Farmers Market and Downtown AMP, featured more than 40 vintage and handmade vendors and eight bands on Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7. It was organized by No Reverse Records, The Nine Oh Six, B3 Creative Agency.

“It was just so cool to be able to see our artists be able to shine and Jackson. This city has been so welcoming of No Reverse Records, and the community is thirsty for things like this. We need more. We want to continue doing what we're doing. And you know, we got here three months ago, and there's already a music festival. I mean, we're making moves, it's happening,” Mitchell Walker, Co-founder of No Reverse Records said. 

The variety of artists and curators was extensive, from Corningware and Pyrex to hand-crocheted blankets and hand-thrown beer glasses. Walker, and his business partner Ashley Kate Adams, gave credit to Lakyn Bowman, from the Nine Oh Six vintage store for the vendor selection process. 

Advertising, branding, and promotion was done by Stephanie Riley at B3 Creative Agency, calling her work excellent. 

Jackson artists Music by KOTA, LOLO, Hope MacGregor, and others sang at the festival. It also welcomed American Idol contestant Dakota Hayden. 

“Getting to have face time with our community members who have been buying our music and supporting us online, to actually be able to hug them, and shake their hand, and thank them for coming out, has been a really, really special part in this process, and to also see how they respond to our music live and in person. It's been really powerful,” Adams said.
