County Commissioner recovering from heart attack, surgery

Posted

Madison County Commissioner Gary Tippett is recovering after suffering a heart attack earlier this week.

Fellow Commissioner Carl Alexander was updating other members of the Commission during committee meetings on Thursday.

“I visited him in the hospital on Tuesday and spent a little time with him, and he was in good spirits,” Alexander said.

Tippett had bypass surgery on Thursday.

“I talked to his wife earlier, and she said the surgery went fine too and he should be out of ICU by (Friday),” Alexander said.

Tippett served on the Commission from 2014-18 and was elected back to the Commission this past August. He’s a Republican representing District 7.

“Commissioner Tippett is a good man that does a good job representing his district and serving on this commission,” Alexander said. “We want him to be fully recovered when he gets back, but we hope it’s a speedy recovery.”
