Here’s a look at things going on in and around Jackson in the next couple weeks.

SEPT. 1

Hub City Flea Market

Monthly flea markets in Jackson are back at the Jackson Fairgrounds (800 South Highland Avenue in Downtown Jackson). For the 2023 season, the flea market will be held on the first weekend of each month. Doors are open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

African Street Festival

The 33rd Annual African Street Festival presented by The Society for African American Cultural Awareness (SAACA) will be held at TR White Sportsplex during Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-3, 2023. Come out and enjoy live entertainment, African drum classes, Children’s Hut & activities, health screenings, food and merchandise vendors and so much more. First Fridays Art Walk

Through November, the Jackson Arts Council will organize “First Friday Art Walk” events in Downtown Jackson. These monthly events will take place on the first Friday of the month from 3-6 p.m. in local businesses all within walking distance of one another in Downtown Jackson’s newly designated Arts District. The public will now have regular monthly opportunities to shop for local art directly from local artists. Artists will pop up inside of the storefronts of local businesses to sell their work. The purpose of these events is to increase opportunities for the public to engage with the arts, increase opportunities for local artists to sell their work, increase arts opportunities within the Arts District, and increase walkability and economic activity in Downtown Jackson.

Food Truck Fridays

Downtown Jackson and the West TN Farmers Market (91 New Market Street in Downtown Jackson) bring you Food Truck Fridays! Make plans to join them every Friday, May through November, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to experience local eateries at lunch to end your work week and support local businesses. 

Wine Down

Crown Winery (3638 East Mitchell Street in Humboldt) is back with its Wine Down concert series. Remember when booking your table reservations to also go ahead and do your pizza reservations. The pizzas time slots go fast.
Visit their website www.crownwinery.com and book online. This week’s entertainment is Blue Eyed Sun. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Sept. 2

Voices in the Vineyard

Century Farm Winery (1548 Lower Brownsville Road in Jackson) continues its summer concert series with Rita Mac and Different Drum at 7 p.m. Music starts at 7 p.m. Limited tables are available. Lawn chairs are available.

Twitty and Lynn in Henderson

The duo of the grandchildren of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, Tre and Tayla, will be back in Henderson at the Williams Auditorium (634 East Main Street) for a concert that starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $38, $48 and $58 and are available online at williamsauditorium.com.

Sept. 7

Cheap Trick concert

One of the highlight events of this year’s Soybean Festival in Martin, the band Cheap Trick will be in concert at the WK&T Amphitheater. Tickets range from $20-$30 and can be purchased online at tnsoybeanfestival.org. Any remaining tickets will be available at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the ticket box office.

Sept. 8

AMP Music Series

Do you hear it? Only the music of Jackson and West Tennessee could connect Memphis’ Beale Street and Nashville’s Music Row. Join the City of Jackson in celebrating the rich musical legacy of our region with the 2023 season of Jackson’s Award Winning music venue Jackson’s Amphitheater at the Market (AMP). Located in the heart of Jackson behind the West Tennessee Farmers’ Market and within walking distance of the Jackson Walk, this week’s performer is Bryan Moffitt.

Williams Auditorium concert

The Malpass Brothers will be performing at Williams Auditorium (634 East Main Street in Henderson) at 7:30 p.m. They’re a duo that specializes in classic country in the vein of Johnny Cash, the Louvin Brothers and Hank Williams Sr. Tickets are $29, $39 and $49 and are available online at williamsauditorium.com.

Brothers Osborne concert

One of the highlight events of this year’s Soybean Festival in Martin, the band Brothers Osborne will be in concert at the WK&T Amphitheater. Tickets range from $20-$40 and can be purchased online at Event Brite’s website. Any remaining tickets will be available at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the ticket box office.

Arts and Crafts Festival

The Ledge, an events venue in Spring Creek at the corner of Highway 70 and Highway 152, will be hosting an arts and crafts festival on Friday and Saturday. Local artisans will gather and showcase their crafts. This one-of-a-kind event in Spring Creek will offer live performances, food trucks, and unique vendors with a variety of handmade wood crafts, artwork, jewelry, candles, and more! Bring the whole family for a fun-filled day celebrating the arts and craft community in West Tennessee.

Sept. 9

Russell Dickerson concert

One of the highlight events of this year’s Soybean Festival in Martin, Russell Dickerson will be in concert at the WK&T Amphitheater. Tickets range from $20-$40 and can be purchased online at Event Brite’s website. Any remaining tickets will be available at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the ticket box office.

Patriot Day Memorial Stair Climb

You’re invited to honor and remember the brave firefighters who sacrificed their lives on 9/11. Lace-up your sneakers and challenge yourself by climbing the stairs of Jackson Baseball Stadium (4 Fun Place) in remembrance of the heroic first responders. This is a great opportunity to show your support for our local fire department and pay tribute to those who selflessly serve our community. Whether you’re a seasoned climber or a beginner, everyone is welcome to participate. Gather your friends, family, and co-workers to form a team or climb individually. Free T-shirt with proof of registration while supplies last. Registration is $35, and it starts at 8 a.m. before the climb starts at 9 a.m.

KT Tunstall at The Dixie

The Dixie Performing Arts Center (91 Court Square in Huntingdon) will host a concert with internationally known KT Tunstall, whose biggest hit came in 2005 called “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree.” Tickets range from $25-$40 and are available at dixiepac.net. Concert is set to start at 7:30 p.m.

Artifas concert

Hub City Brewing (250 West Main Street in Downtown Jackson) will host Artifas in concert at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance at hubcityevents.com or $20 at the door if there are any left that day.
