We are saddened to announce the death of Charlotte Johnson, who entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Regional One Health in Memphis, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 87.
Charlotte was born on June 17, 1937, in Sharon, the daughter of the late Dell and Mary Jane Taylor.
She was known for her very sweet and gentle personality. After receiving a bachelor's degree in education from the University Tennessee at Martin, Charlotte embarked on a career in teaching. She dedicated approximately ten years to educating young minds before transitioning to becoming a devoted homemaker and a pillar of support for her husband. In her leisure time, Charlotte found joy in her church community and cherished the many friendships she cultivated there. For years, she taught Sunday school and led a ladies' Bible class, touching the hearts of those around her with her caring spirit. Charlotte also extended her compassion by delivering meals to those in need. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren, and she spent her time loving and nurturing them.
Aside from her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by an infant son. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Ralph Johnson of Jackson; daughter, Laura Miller and husband Bill of Jackson; son, Mark Johnson of Jackson; grandchildren, Dr. William Miller and his wife Marilyn, Lee Johnson, Ben Johnson, Sarah Miller, and Libba Miller; great-grandchild, Tripp Miller; brother-in-law, Dr. Larry Johnson of Jackson; and sister-in-law, Liz Johnson of Jackson.
A funeral service honoring the life of Charlotte will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, at Campbell Street Church of Christ in Jackson. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until 1 p.m. at Campbell Street Church of Christ followed by the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Dr. William Miller, Lee Johnson, Ben Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Dr. David Burleson, Dr. David Johnson and Don Johnson.
