Residing in Jackson since 1953, Mummer was a dedicated member of the Jackson General Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary, where she served as an officer, at various times, for 35 years, leaving an indelible mark on the community she so dearly cared for. She also won the Tennessee Hospital Association's Volunteer of the Year in 2017 clocking in 2,328 volunteer hours. In her time at Jackson General, she volunteered a total of 31,507 hours. She joined the Daughters of the American Revolution at the age of 82. She was a member of the Jackson-Madison Chapter along with her daughter and granddaughters. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross as a Grey Lady.

Mummer was also a steadfast member of the West Jackson Baptist Church for 71 years, where her presence and dedication were felt by all. She graciously served as the church librarian and receptionist, selflessly giving her time and spreading warmth and kindness to all who crossed her path. Her faith in Jesus Christ was unwavering, serving as a shining example for her church, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvis "Sug" Dunn and Ada Myrtle (Carlton) Dunn; her husband of 48 years, Harold E. Walker; her son in law, Dr. Tommy W. Allen; and her four siblings, Edith (Dunn) Taylor, Rose (Dunn) Moore, Jimmy Dunn and Danny Dunn.

Mummer's legacy of love and guidance extended beyond her immediate family which included her children, Stan Walker and Debbie (Walker) Allen-Shires and touched the lives of her grandchildren, including Sara Beth (Allen) Newsom, Haley (Walker) Tehan, and Mary Kate (Allen) Eckhardt, and her great-grandchildren, Matthew Newsom, Elizabeth Newsom, Eve Walker, and Ford Klein. She is also survived by her sister, Glenda (Dunn) Zopf and numerous nieces and nephews of whom she loved dearly. Her spirit lives on in the generations that follow, carrying forward her love, wisdom, and devotion.

A cryptside service to celebrate her life was held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in the chapel of the mausoleum at Highland Memorial Gardens.
