Bowls for the Hungry to raise funds for those experiencing homelessness

If you have visited the City of Jackson’s Ceramics Studio in Bemis lately, you might notice a common theme: bowls. Bowls of all shapes and sizes are on the tables, shelves, and stacked on counters. Some have intricate designs, and others are more simple. All of these bowls will be up for auction at the Bowls for the Hungry event July 22. 

The event, hosted by the City of Jackson, will be raising money for Tennessee Homeless Solutions, the Salvation Army, the Dream Center, Regional InterFaith Association, and Area Relief Ministries. 

For months, volunteers have worked at the ceramics studio to paint the bowls. 

“All of the bowls are handmade by local artists, and nonprofits came in and made some bowls. Each bowl is unique and a special sentimental design to the artists themselves,” Alyssa Miller, ceramics instructor for the City of Jackson, said. 

The banquet and silent auction will be held Saturday, July 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jackson Fairgrounds. For more information, visit jacksontn.betterworld.org.
