Barbara Lynne Skelley, known affectionately as Barb, passed away on July 25, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
Barb was born on July 25, 1953, in Traverse City, Mich., to the late Russell Leymon and Cecilia Simon Leymon. She was an artist, an avid crafter, and home baker. She enjoyed attending estate sales to find weird, wonderful, and overlooked antiques for her home and the resale booths she ran with her husband of 35 years, Richard. She loved her family more than anything.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Allen (Rick) Skelley of Jackson; children, Rev. Bryan Bliss (Michelle) of St. Paul, Minn., Bethany Teague (Corey) of San Francisco, Calif., Rick Skelley, II (Autumn) of St. Paul, Minn., James Skelley (Ruth Ortiz) of St. Paul, Minn., and Erin Holderman (Justin) of St. Paul, Minn.; her sisters, Janice Kessl of Bolingbrook, Ill., and Beverly Leymon Porter (Harry) of Boston, Mass.; grandchildren, Nora Bliss, Ben Bliss, and Lucy Teague. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Barb Skelley will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Rev. Joy Caires officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m., two hours prior to the service. A reception will follow the funeral service at Premier Place, 2644 North Highland Ave., Jackson, TN 38305. Following services in Jackson, Barb will be returned to Minnesota for interment.
