Dream Center hosting annual Night in the Caribbean fundraiser

Kevin Johnson made a national name for himself when he brought his ventriloquist show to the network show “America’s Got Talent.”

In January, he will bring that show to Jackson for The Dream Center.

The Dream Center’s annual fundraiser, A Night in the Caribbean, will feature Johnson and his dummies for a comedy show along with the Bullet Town Trio, a local band, playing music before and during the dinner.

“Kevin is hilarious, and everyone who comes I think will have a great time,” said Gail Gustafson with Dream Center. “And Bullet Town Trio is one of those bands everyone around here loves to listen to, so I know it’ll be a great night.”

In addition to the entertainment, Dream Center will announce its annual award winners, a live auction and a few current and former residents of the Center will give their testimonies of what Dream Center has meant to them and their lives.

The show is Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Downtown Jackson. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets for the dinner and show are $150 apiece. Anyone who wants to come just for the show can get a balcony seat for $20.

While the Dream Center is building a new facility on Oil Well Road, the funds raised at Night in the Caribbean go toward the Center’s day-to-day operations.

The Center takes care of 30 people – women and any children they may have – on an average night. They’re hoping the new facility, which is set to open in May, will allow them more capacity to help more people.

In addition to that, the Dream Center has Christmas ornaments and wrapping paper for sale at their current office at 1970 North Highland Suite E.
